Job Description We're recruiting a Vice President of Finance & Accounting for a high-growth, PE-backed wealth management organization seeking a hands-on finance leader.
Location:
Birmingham, Alabama preferred. Remote; Atlanta, GA, Nashville, TN, or Southeast candidates considered with travel

Birmingham, AL Salary:
$160k-$190k + bonus & equity Responsibilities Lead accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, financial reporting, and the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. Ensure consistent application of GAAP while strengthening accounting policies, controls, documentation, and audit readiness. Lead and develop the accounting team through hands-on coaching, clear expectations, and ongoing mentorship. Own the company's financial model, annual budget, rolling forecasts, scenario analysis, and long-range planning. Partner with business leaders on budgets, operating plans, and monthly budget-to-actual and variance reviews. Provide the CFO and executive leadership team with financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions and resource allocation. Partner with the CFO and corporate development team on M&A, financings, investments, restructurings, and other complex transactions. Review the accounting and financial impact of transaction documents and coordinate with legal counsel and external advisors on technical accounting matters. Support partnership tax compliance and planning, including tax filings, estimates, and coordination with external advisors. Oversee the accuracy of equity records and cap table administration. Identify opportunities to improve finance processes through automation, AI, and other technology. Collaborate closely with Billing & Revenue Operations and the broader finance organization.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. 10-15 years of progressive experience across accounting, controllership, and FP&A, including senior-level ownership. Experience in a high-growth, private equity-backed environment. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and the full accounting cycle. Proven experience with financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Experience supporting M&A, technical accounting, partnership tax, equity administration, or other complex transactions. Experience building, leading, and developing high-performing finance and accounting teams. Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills. Strong technology skills, including experience with
ERP/FP&A
systems and automation tools. Hands-on, collaborative leadership style with the ability to move between strategic planning and detailed execution. Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and people leadership skills. CPA required; MBA and/or CFA a plus. Financial services or wealth management experience preferred.
