Job Description
Our client is a reputable leader in their industry; established decades ago. They are seeking an experienced Controller to join this Orange County-based distributor, with complex inventory challenges. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the company's accounting and financial operations while providing management with accurate, timely financial information to support business decisions. Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and month-end close. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow reports. Establish and maintain strong financial controls and accounting procedures. Oversee inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliation in a distribution environment, with complex inventory requirements. Manage banking relationships, audits, tax filings, and external accounting partners. Monitor financial performance and provide actionable analysis to ownership and senior management. Lead and develop the accounting/finance team of 3-4 people. Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, profitability, and operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including Controller or senior accounting leadership experience. Experience in distribution or wholesale distribution environment. Strong knowledge of inventory accounting and cost accounting. Advanced Excel and accounting/ERP system skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Proven ability to work hands-on while also providing strategic financial leadership. Pay:
