full-time Hands on Controller to support a growing small-to-mid-sized company. This position offers flexibility while providing leadership across accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and year-end preparation. Flexible schedule Approximately 25+ hours per week -Flex hours On-site in San Jose, CA - Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations
- Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Support CPA firm with tax preparation and annual filings
- Ensure construction industry compliance and reporting requirements are met
- Assist with audit preparation and supporting schedules
- Monitor cash flow and financial performance
- Review and improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Support project accounting and job costing activities
- Maintain accurate financial records and reporting Preferred Qualifications
- Controller or Accounting Manager experience within a small to mid-sized construction company
- Strong understanding of: o Construction accounting o Job costing o financial reporting o Month-end and year-end close o Audit support o Compliance reporting
- Experience preparing financial packages for outside CPA firms
- Ability to work independently and improve accounting processes
- Foundation Software experience is a huge plus
- Open to candidates with experience using other construction accounting software platforms Why This Opportunity?
