Description We are looking for an Assistant Controller to help lead core accounting activities and maintain accurate, timely financial reporting in Irvine, California. This position plays a key role in close cycles, day-to-day accounting oversight, and compliance with company policies and reporting standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate with business leaders to support financial visibility and operational decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities to ensure deadlines are met and results are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and examine financial statements, account analyses, and supporting documentation to maintain reporting integrity.
- Manage general ledger accuracy by reviewing journal entries, monitoring reconciliations, and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Support oversight of essential accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset tracking.
- Maintain adherence to organizational accounting policies, internal procedures, and applicable compliance standards.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial review efforts by analyzing trends and providing meaningful insights.
- Partner with external auditors and assist with audit preparation, tax-related support, and regulatory reporting needs.
- Strengthen accounting workflows by documenting procedures, enhancing internal controls, and identifying process improvements.
- Work closely with operational stakeholders to deliver financial guidance, performance reporting, and practical recommendations. Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with month-end close processes and general ledger management.
- Strong background in financial reporting, including preparation and review of formal statements.
- Knowledge of financial statement audit support and audit coordination activities.
- Familiarity with DCAA requirements and compliance considerations.
- Ability to oversee reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting accounting documentation with accuracy.
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in a corporate accounting environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across finance and operational teams.
