Immediate Start through First Week of January Position Overview Our client is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller or Controller Consultant to provide interim leadership during a leave period. This role will partner closely with the CFO to oversee accounting operations, ensure timely month-end close, support year-end audit readiness, and provide stability to the accounting team. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure GAAP compliance. Analyze financial results and support year-end close activities. Team Leadership Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Staff Accounting functions. Serve as the primary accounting resource for operational departments. Provide leadership, guidance, and continuity for the accounting team. Inventory & Cost Accounting Oversee inventory accounting, reconciliations, and valuation. Review production variances and manufacturing cost analysis. Partner with operations to ensure accurate financial reporting of inventory and production activity. Audit, Compliance & Controls Support external audit preparation and audit requests. Review balance sheet reconciliations and strengthen internal controls. Assist with sales tax filings, business licenses, permits, and other compliance requirements. Treasury & ERP Review cash activity, banking transactions, and reconciliations. Act as the Finance Lead for accounting-related ERP activities. Support Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central processes, reporting, and data integrity. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience. 4+ years of accounting leadership experience. Strong GAAP knowledge. Experience leading month-end close, financial reporting, and audit support. Preferred Manufacturing industry experience. Inventory and cost accounting expertise. Prior Assistant Controller or Controller experience. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience. CPA preferred but not required. Immediate Priorities Maintain continuity of accounting operations. Ensure accurate and timely month-end closes. Support year-end close and audit readiness. Provide accounting leadership during the leave period. Partner closely with the CFO on year-end financial reporting and close activities. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting leader who can quickly step into a manufacturing environment, provide hands-on support, and drive successful year-end execution. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility. Proven background managing month-end close, financial statement preparation, and year-end reporting activities. Experience supporting external audits and responding to audit documentation requests. Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and profit and loss reporting. Hands-on experience with inventory accounting and cost analysis, ideally within a manufacturing environment. Prior experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity is strongly preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred.
