About Toyota Material Handling Solutions Toyota Material Handling Solutions (TMHS) has been serving the material handling needs of the Los Angeles area since 1973. Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to oversee all accounting and financial reporting for our Toyota equipment dealership. This highly visible position is in an excellent position to grow into a Controllership role after demonstrating continued success. This position will lead the accounting team, direct the monthly financial close, maintain strong internal controls, manage banking relationships, and oversee all financial statement, bank, and other external audits. This position partners closely with the Vice President of Finance and plays a key role in supporting the Company's expected growth. Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Supervise the general ledger, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, fixed assets, and financial statements.
- Manage and mentor an accounting team of two.
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Serve as the primary contact for the annual financial statement audit, bank audits, and other compliance reviews.
- Interface directly with banks regarding financing, treasury management, loan covenants, and cash management.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and assist executive management with liquidity planning.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
- Identify opportunities to automate and improve accounting processes using Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Excel. Qualifications
- CPA license preferred but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Extensive and RECENT hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Dynamics 365 Business Central experience is a plus).
- Demonstrated expertise conducting monthly accounting close processes.
- Extensive experience coordinating annual financial statement audits and bank audits.
- Strong experience working directly with commercial banks and lenders.
- Excellent knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong overall computer proficiency.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience
- AI experience incorporating agents to automate recurring tasks is a plus.
- Distribution, industrial equipment, dealership, manufacturing, or inventory-intensive business.
- Inventory and cost accounting.
- Cash flow management and treasury operations.
- Continuous process improvement and ERP optimization.
