Job Description

Position Overview JDM Companies is seeking a highly organized, financially proficient, and proactive Controller who can provide administrative and operation support while managing and performing the company's accounting/financial administration, contractual coordination, insurance compliance, payroll, accounts payable, legal, and operational support functions for multiple small, early-stage companies. This individual will serve as a key individual contributor within the company and will work directly with ownership and senior leadership to help build a highly organized, systems-driven, and professional organization. This role will be hands-on with day-to-day full-cycle accounting and various operational responsibilities, while implementing new systems and processes that support continued growth. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, trustworthy, highly accountable, thorough, and experienced in construction or project-based business operations. This role requires strong financial acumen combined with exceptional organizational and communication skills. Financial & Accounting Management Perform all company bookkeeping and accounting functions for multiple entities in accordance with GAAP, including credit card expense reports, accounts payable, accounts receivable, work-in-progress, intercompany transactions, journal entries, GL management, and reconciliations Maintain project job costing systems, monitor work-in-progress and support project managers with budget-to-actual reporting Perform accurate and timely period-end close Prepare cash forecast and monitor cash flow Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports Process weekly and biweekly payroll in ADP Workforce Now, payroll tax coordination, employee deductions, and payroll record compliance Perform basic human resources functions including employee onboarding, benefits administration support, personnel documentation and HR record maintenance Issue and control company assets (credit cards, cell phones, etc.) Coordinate with CPA, tax professionals, and banking partners Facilitate communication between departments and project team Contract & Compliance Administration Manage construction contracts, subcontract agreements, and vendor documentation Track lien releases, insurance certificates, and subcontractor compliance Coordinate permit documentation, filings and administrative project requirements Maintain company licenses and regulatory compliance records Assist with contract organization and document management systems Administer insurance renewals while coordinating with insurance brokers/carriers Support risk management and contractual documentation processes Document and archive annual reporting Operational Support Support project managers and leadership with administrative coordination Assist in implementing company systems, workflows, and operational standards that are digital and scalable Help create a highly organized and professional operational environment Participate in leadership meetings and operational planning discussions Contribute to continuous improvement of company processes and efficiencies QualificationsRequired 7-10+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, payroll, cash management, and multi-entity accounting Strong organizational and administrative capabilities High attention to detail and accuracy Strong communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and ADP Workforce Now Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and skilled in Excel Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality Preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field strongly preferred Experience in farming, hospitality, construction, real estate development, architecture, or project-based industries Experience with construction job costing, project accounting, restaurants, and/or wineries Understanding of subcontractor management and construction documentation Familiarity with permits, insurance requirements, and construction contracts Experience helping build operational systems within a growing company Desired Personal Characteristics Highly organized and process-oriented Calm under pressure Proactive rather than reactive Able to pivot easily based on priorities Solution-oriented Financially disciplined Strong communicator Team-oriented Capable of helping create structure within a fast-growing company Compensation Competitive salary based on experience Industry-leading benefits Performance-based bonus opportunities Collaborative and entrepreneurial work environment About JDM Companies JDM Companies includes a design-driven construction and development company; a farming operation; a real estate management company; and a hospitality service company, all focused on delivering high-quality internal projects and services through exceptional design, disciplined execution, and operational excellence. Pay:
$125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
