Assistant Controller

Job Description

Our client is a rapidly expanding private equity-backed infrastructure/construction company seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to help strengthen and scale its accounting function. You will partner closely with accounting leadership to oversee the close process, strengthen financial reporting and controls, support external audits, and build scalable processes that can keep pace with continued growth. Play an important role in preparing the organization to scale and support its next phase of growth. Key Responsibilities Lead the monthly and quarterly close for a complex organization with multiple entities Oversee consolidated financial reporting, intercompany transactions, and resolution of complex accounting issues. Manage the external audit process, serving as a key liaison with external audit team and ensuring timely completion of deliverables. Partner with cross-functional leaders to strengthen accounting processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enable system functionality and build scalable solutions to support continued growth and acquisitions. Support financial reporting and analysis for executive leadership, lenders, and private equity stakeholders. Collaborate with many cross functional teams to ensure accurate accounting for business activity and transactions. Support M&A, system implementations and other accounting projects as the company continues to expand. Mentor and develop accounting team members while promoting accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA strongly preferred. 7-9 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including a strong foundation in public accounting and external audit. Hands-on experience leading a team in a complex environment with multiple entities. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, consolidations and general ledger accounting Experience preparing or reviewing financial reporting for executive leadership and private equity ownership. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to getting things done. You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities ,enjoy partnering with both accounting and operational teams, and are energized by the opportunity to help build the processes and infrastructure needed to support rapid growth.
