  • Interim / Fractional Assistant Controller (3-Month Engagement
  • Contract to Hire Potential) Overview We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller / Controller-level accounting professional to support a multi-entity organization in the automotive, collision repair, fabrication, and finance sectors.
This is a 3-month fractional engagement designed to provide immediate leadership and stability across accounting operations, with the potential to transition into a full-time, permanent role if mutually aligned. This role will work alongside a transitioning Controller to ensure continuity while helping elevate processes, reporting accuracy, and month-end execution. Key Responsibilities" Financial Oversight & Close Process Lead and execute monthly close across multiple entities, including: Automotive dealerships Collision / body shop operations Fabrication business Buy-here-pay-here and finance entities Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting Review and validate general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations Perform and/or oversee bank and account reconciliations Day-to-Day Accounting Operations Oversee Accounts Payable processes (primary focus area) Review AP batches, coding, and approvals Ensure billing is completed and issued accurately across applicable entities Provide light oversight on Accounts Receivable where applicable Verify payroll processing is completed accurately and on schedule Systems & Process Management Work within and help optimize: QuickBooks Online (primary accounting system) PBS (Dealer Management System) CCC (collision/body shop software) Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows and strengthen controls Collaboration & Transition Support Partner with ownership and operational leaders to provide financial visibility Coordinate with outgoing Controller to ensure smooth knowledge transfer Help stabilize and standardize accounting practices across entities Ideal Candidate Profile Proven experience at the Assistant Controller or Controller level Strong multi-entity / multi-location accounting experience Background in automotive, dealerships, collision repair, or related industries strongly preferred Experience with buy-here-pay-here (BHPH) or finance companies is a major plus Hands-on expertise with: QuickBooks Online Dealer Management Systems (DMS), preferably PBS Collision software (CCC or similar) Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines
