Job Description

Controller Fiske Electric - 3.5 Johnstown, CO Job Details Full-time $120,000 - $140,000 a year 3 days ago Qualifications Accounting systems Team leadership Bachelor's degree Cloud-based systems Mentoring Financial accounting Bachelor's degree in accounting General management Full Job Description Fiske Electric has had an impressive track record for almost 50 years. Not many companies in the trades can say that. We have weathered the ups and downs of economic crashes, supply chain issues, fluctuating interest rates, and the pandemic, each of which took some companies in NoCO out of business. Fiske hasn't merely survived; we've thrived. There's a reason. About ten years ago, our third-generation leader, Kevin Fiske, decided to diversify outside of the typical residential and commercial electrical contractor space. Our company has expanded into electrical solutions and total energy management in Industrial, Agriculture, Healthcare, Dairy, Robotics, Refrigeration, and Solar. We run our business with the same precision our clients and customers expect from the electrical work we provide. Though we are intentionally casual in our environment, the operation of Fiske Electric isn't casual! We are professional in the services we provide and very professional in how we run our business. We have an opening for a Controller to join our family business. The successful candidate will oversee typical Controller functions, including cash management, financial reporting and analysis, outside reporting, coordination with our external CPA partners, taxes, insurance, claims, licenses, support to management, and direction of our outsourced HR, payroll, and benefits solutions. In addition, our Controller will be part of the leadership team, helping us understand the financial aspects of the strategic decisions we will make. We're looking for a Controller who possesses: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Proficiency typically gained by a good 5 years of experience as a Controller in a family business; experience in the trades preferred Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence optimal outcomes with or without line authority Proven strengths in managing and mentoring others A love for our trade, and the thousands of businesses and residences we have touched Expertise in cloud-based accounting platforms, ERPs, and office software The ability to instill confidence in the owner, the family, the leadership, team members, vendors, partners, and all who transact business with Fiske Electric. This will not be the right opportunity for those who: Do not understand the dynamics of working in a multigenerational family business that honors the past, gets the optimal outcome in the present, and plans for the next generation Like to say "no" a lot, rather than having a curiosity about what the future could hold paired with the ability to explain how Expect a lot of direction as the impetus to figure out what needs to be done Aren't good at explaining complex accounting and financial matters without sounding like a complex accounting or financial person Don't know how to be appropriately assertive while not getting their feelings hurt by others who are being appropriately assertive Can't anticipate the unspoken and often unanticipated future needs of business owners, family members, management, and team. Expected Base Pay - $120,000 - 140,000, plus performance-based bonus We will be accepting applications through September 20, 2026 This is a full-time, in-office position
