Until Filled New Canaan Public Schools Director of Finance and Operations The New Canaan Public School District is seeking a highly qualified individual with successful leadership experience in public school fiscal and operations management for the position of Director of Finance and Operations. Certification as a school business administrator (085) is required and eligibility for the 092, intermediate administration, is preferred. A minimum of five years related administrative experience in school finance, transportation, facilities, and managing information systems is preferred. The DFO is a key member of the district educational leadership team and is responsible for the overall fiscal services and operational dimensions of the school system including such departments as facilities, transportation, technology and food services. Qualifications Candidates must possess State of Connecticut certification - School Business Administration (085) -eligibility for CT Intermediate Administrator (092) preferred Candidates shall possess knowledge of and competence with fiscal control, self-insurance, purchasing and budgeting, insurance and benefits and information technology, personnel administration, plant maintenance, grant application and administration, and contracts. Candidate shall have demonstrated experience with execution and supervision of educational program planning, cost benefit analysis, current best practice accounting procedures and planned programmed budgeting systems, particularly as they relate to CT public schools. Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to collaborative problem solving, working in cooperation with school principals and Central Office Administrators, and a creative, positive management style. A strong vision for the educational mission, knowledge of school cultures and a proven commitment to life -long learning is required. Candidate must demonstrate a history of effective 21st century communication skills, adeptness with public presentations and an ability to develop effective partnerships with other agencies, organizations and stakeholder groups.
