Job Summary The Controller is responsible for the overall financial and accounting operations of Chiaramonte Construction Company. This position provides financial leadership and oversight of the Accounting and Payroll team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, effective cash management, and sound job-cost accounting. The Controller works closely with executive leadership and operations management to provide financial information and analysis that supports company decision-making, project profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term business objectives. The Controller will oversee the Assistant Controller and accounting functions while maintaining accountability for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of CCC's financial records and reporting. Job Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and oversight of CCC's accounting and financial operations. Lead, manage, and mentor the Accounting and Payroll team, including oversight of the Assistant Controller. Establish, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, systems, and internal controls. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, cash flow, and other core accounting functions. Prepare, review, and present accurate monthly financial statements and financial reports to senior management. Oversee Work-In-Progress (WIP) reporting, job cost accounting, and project financial reporting. Monitor project costs and profitability, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and other project expenses. Partner with Operations and project management to identify financial issues, cost variances, and opportunities to improve project performance. Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes and provide recommendations to senior management. Monitor cash flow and working capital and coordinate banking activities and relationships with financial institutions. Coordinate quarterly accounting reviews, annual audits, tax returns, and other external financial requirements. Maintain state registrations, business licenses, tax registrations, and other required financial or regulatory documentation. Oversee compliance with applicable accounting, tax, payroll, and financial reporting requirements. Safeguard company assets through effective financial controls, approvals, reconciliations, and financial oversight. Review and improve accounting processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and accountability. Work with senior management and Operations Managers to ensure financial directives and company policies are followed. Provide financial analysis and recommendations regarding business performance, project profitability, cash requirements, and other strategic decisions. Support executive leadership with financial information needed for business planning and decision-making. Oversee the effective use of Sage 300, Excel, Procore, and other systems supporting CCC's accounting and financial operations. Maintain confidentiality of company financial information and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial matters. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar; CPA or CMA certification preferred. 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience. Experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or comparable senior accounting leadership role. Sage 300 proficiency is required. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required; experience with Procore preferred. Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred. Strong understanding of construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and project financials. Experience dealing with banks and financial institutions. Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and hold an accounting team accountable for performance and accuracy. Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong project and task follow-up skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with senior management, operations leaders, project teams, and external financial professionals.

Pay:
$150,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
