Responsibilities:
The Controller leads all core accounting operations, financial reporting, and job-cost accounting, partnering directly with the CFO and field operations to maintain financial integrity, drive profitability analysis across multiple divisions, streamline financial systems, and lead the accounting team.
Financial Management & Reporting:
Own monthly, quarterly, and annual closes; deliver timely, GAAP-compliant consolidated and divisional financial packages for executive leadership, board members, and lenders.
General Ledger & Core Accounting:
Oversee GL, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany accounts. Establish clear standards for account reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet support, approval authorities, and segregation of duti es.
Operations & Divisional Profitability:
Partner with branch and project managers to analyze revenue, labor, equipment, overhead, and margin trends across commercial, project-based, and recurring service lines. Oversee work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, percent-complete accounting, estimates, backlog, under/o verbillings, and retain age. Lead monthly financial reviews linking operational drivers to financial performance.
Inventory, Cash Flow & Compliance:
Oversee inventory controls, physical counts, valuation, and fleet/equipment cost allocations. Partner with leadership on cash-flow forecasting, AR collections, billing issue resolution, and disbursement controls. Lead external audit prep, manage tax compliance coordination, track lien waivers/Notices to Owner, an d ensure lender covenant co mpliance.
Systems & Process Leadership:
Standardize charts of accounts, cost codes, and divisional data standards across branches. Drive improvements and integration between field-service, timekeeping, payroll, estimating, and ERP platforms. Manage, coach, and cross-train accounting staff; foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous process improve ment.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
4-7 years of experience 3-5 years of general accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience . Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online and core accounting tools . Strong foundation in general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial report preparation . Exceptional accuracy in managing cash, balance sheets, and specialized resident account balances . Prior experience in non-profit accounting, resident fund management, or health/human services billing preferred . Familiarity with state funding workflows or AHCA billing environments . High-level problem-solving skills with an approachable, adaptable communication style . Comfortable working around residents who can sometimes be loud or vocal .
