We are seeking an accomplished Assistant Controller to join the finance and accounting leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who is looking for long-term career growth and increased responsibility within a well-established organization. The Opportunity The Assistant Controller will play a key role in overseeing the company's general ledger and financial close processes while partnering closely with senior finance and operational leadership. The ideal candidate is a strong technical accountant and people leader who enjoys building processes, improving controls, developing teams, and creating scalable accounting practices . Manufacturing experience is highly desirable, and a background beginning in public accounting/audit is strongly preferred. This position offers significant growth potential for the right individual. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee the general ledger and month-end close process , ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards. Manage and develop accounting staff, providing strong leadership, coaching, and mentorship. Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting. Strengthen and improve accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and processes. Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve the efficiency of the accounting function. Partner with operations, finance, and other business leaders to provide meaningful financial insight. Support the preparation and analysis of monthly and annual financial statements. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed. Work closely with external auditors and support the annual audit process. Help establish scalable accounting processes that can support the company's continued growth. Participate in special projects and other initiatives as assigned by the Controller/CFO. Ideal Background Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience , with significant general ledger experience. Strong month-end close and financial reporting experience. Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to mentor and develop accounting professionals. Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred. Experience with cost accounting is highly preferred, but not required. Prior experience in public accounting/audit is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls. Proven ability to build and improve accounting processes and procedures. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both accounting and operational teams. ERP experience and strong Excel skills.
