We are currently seeking a finance and accounting leader to fulfill the role of VP, Corporate Controller. This role is responsible for leading the accounting team as well as overseeing all accounting-related activities for the organization. This position will also oversee internal controls and coordinate the annual audit process.
Responsibilities:
Plans, directs and coordinates all accounting and reporting functions for managed and owned entities. Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results in GAAP format. Coordinates and prepares internal and external financial statements and reports. Coordinates the requirements of external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies. Provides senior and community management with timely information vital to the decision-making process. Develops a collaborative relationship with the Regional Vice Presidents and become a partner to help develop good financial stewardship and accurate financial reporting Assists with the budget and forecasting processes, in collaboration with the VP, FPA. Assesses current accounting operations, offers recommendations for improvement and maintains or implements new policies, procedures, and protocols, as required. Evaluates accounting and internal control systems and implements change as applicable. Evaluates the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases, as needed. Develops and monitors business performance metrics, collaboration with the VP, FPA and the VP, Corporate Treasurer. Oversees regulatory and tax planning and compliance, as required. Hires, trains, retains and supervises a staff of skilled accounting team members, in all accounting subsystems and in all accounting reporting requirements. Develops job descriptions, training programs, and personal development plans for all Accounting staff, and meets frequently with staff to reinforce expectations and long-term professional goals. Provides ad hoc analyses for senior management, community management, and owners of managed communities, as required. Participates in Company's Executive Leadership Committee. Participates or delegates participation in the Company's Accounting, HR, and IT Steering Committees.
Qualifications:
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. MBA preferred. Possesses professional accreditation as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Strong accounting process and finance knowledge. Strong organization and time management skills. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Strong communication and presentation skills. Team-oriented; willingness to assist others. Self-motivated; takes initiative. Exercises good judgment; ability to prioritize and work independently. Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities. Well-developed interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature. Ability to establish credibility and be decisive but able to recognize and support the organization's preferences and priorities. Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.:
