Job Description
Overview of working at DPC Working at Dr. Phillips Center means being part of a team committed to delivering exceptional experiences for our community through collaboration, creativity, and excellence. We operate as one organization - integrating across teams, taking ownership of outcomes, and continually improving how we work. Every role contributes to advancing our mission while building a culture where people, ideas, and performance thrive together. Position Summary The VP Technology is a collaborative, strategic technology and systems leader who modernizes infrastructure, data, workflows, and enterprise platforms to enable innovation, revenue growth, scalability, and stronger organizational performance. Reporting to the CEO, this role partners closely with leaders across the organization to strengthen decision-making, improve operational effectiveness, reduce manual workarounds, and ensure technology enables, rather than slows, how the DPC operates and grows. Leadership Philosophy Enabler by Design — Believes the best technology organizations are defined by how effectively they empower every department to succeed. Approaches every challenge as an opportunity to find a path forward, and builds systems that give leaders the visibility, tools, and confidence to make informed decisions independently. Entrepreneurial and Growth-Oriented — Thinks like a business enabler, not just a technology operator. Actively identifies where technology, AI, and automation can unlock new capabilities, reduce friction, and grow the enterprise. Sees every system and process as an opportunity for value creation. Transformation Architect — Has a proven track record of modernizing technology operations into automated, AI-assisted, best-in-class systems. Views technology and AI as essential tools for speed, accuracy, and strategic insight that elevate the entire organization. Transparent and Collaborative — Champions a culture of technology transparency. Believes that when departments understand the systems they rely on and have a voice in shaping them, adoption and trust both grow — and builds the partnerships, communication channels, and governance to make that real. Agile and Forward-Thinking — Thrives in dynamic environments. Anticipates technology needs before they become pain points, adapts strategies as conditions change, and brings a bias toward innovation and continuous improvement over precedent and convention. People-Centered Leader — Invests in developing colleagues. Builds high-performing teams through trust, mentorship, and a commitment to professional growth. Creates a technology culture defined by curiosity, continuous improvement, and service to the organization. Responsibilities & Accountabilities Technology Strategy, Modernization & Scalability Lead the development and execution of a multi-year technology and systems roadmap aligned to DPC's strategic direction, operating model, growth plans, and modernization priorities. Technology Budget & Capital Allocation Own the development and management of the technology budget and capital allocation decisions, partnering with department leaders on technology spend within their budgets to ensure strategic investments balance modernization, scalability, and operational efficiency. Enterprise Systems, Data & Integration Strengthen enterprise data, systems integration, and workflow connectivity to improve visibility, decision-making, reporting accuracy, and organizational effectiveness across functions. Operational Enablement & Workflow Improvement Partner with leaders across the organization to simplify processes/workflows, reduce friction, automate manual processes, and improve how work moves across teams and systems. Technology Governance, Security & Reliability Ensure technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, governance practices, and vendor relationships support reliability, scalability, data integrity, and responsible risk management. AI, Innovation & Emerging Technology Identify practical opportunities for AI, automation, and emerging technologies to improve operations, strengthen insights, support revenue growth, and enhance organizational capabilities. Executive Partnership & Organizational Alignment Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and leadership team by translating technology opportunities, risks, investments, and trade-offs into clear business context and actionable recommendations. Board & Committee Engagement Present to the Board of Directors and relevant committees on technology strategy, cybersecurity posture, AI governance, major technology investments, and data risk — translating complex technology matters into clear context for governance-level decision-making. Team Leadership & Capability Building Build and lead a high-performing technology organization that develops team capability, strengthens service orientation, and continuously improves how technology supports the broader organization. Embedded Technology Business Partners Build dedicated technology business partner capabilities embedded within departments to support planning, analysis, and decision-making — ensuring leaders have hands-on technology partnership for the systems and tools that matter most to their teams. Succession Planning & Bench Strength Build depth, continuity, and resilience across the technology organization, with intentional succession planning and bench development for specialized and senior technical roles as the function evolves. Role Capabilities & Experience Deep understanding of enterprise technology, systems integration, data architecture, ERP and platform implementation, cybersecurity, and organizational technology modernization. Experience leading technology transformation initiatives that improve scalability, reporting, workflow effectiveness, and organizational decision-making. Strong understanding of enterprise data strategy, governance, interoperability, and "single source of truth" approaches that improve visibility and reduce manual workarounds. Ability to evaluate where technology should be built internally versus outsourced or implemented through strategic vendor partnerships. Experience implementing practical AI and automation capabilities that improve operations, efficiency, and organizational performance. 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including experience leading enterprise systems, modernization, and organizational technology initiatives. Experience leading technology organizations in complex, service-oriented, multi-functional environments. Experience with ERP, CRM, HRIS, enterprise data, systems integration, and modernization initiatives strongly preferred. A leadership style defined by collaboration, transparency, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine commitment to developing people. What We're Looking For Required 10+ years of IT experience, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role overseeing a technology organization. Hands-on experience with AI tools, Agentic AI platforms in an organizational or enterprise context. Deep knowledge of Data platforms like BigQuery or Snowflake. Proven experience in managing software development projects. Proven experience building and leading internal IT teams, including hiring, developing, and managing technical staff. Demonstrated success in modernizing IT infrastructure and operations — including cloud migration, process automation, and enterprise system implementation. Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001). Proven ability to lead technology change management — bringing teams and stakeholders through significant system and process transitions successfully. Exceptional communication skills — able to translate complex technical topics for executive, board, and non-technical audiences. Nice to Have Experience in [relevant industry, e.g., nonprofit, arts, hospitality, healthcare]. Background in implementing ERP, HRIS, or CRM platforms and managing the organizational change alongside technical deployment. Software Development experience. Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and responsible technology practices. Experience managing IT in a multi-site or distributed organizational environment.
