$90,000-$120,000 per year Position Overview Sensenich Propeller Company is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function for our privately held manufacturing company. Based in Plant City, Florida, Sensenich has approximately 80 employees and operates across five legal entities serving the aviation and related propeller markets. This position reports directly to the President and works closely with the Director of Finance on financial planning, accounting policies, financial reporting, and internal controls. The Controller will lead a four-person accounting team and have direct responsibility for the accuracy, timeliness, and effectiveness of the company's accounting and financial reporting functions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Controller or for a strong Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager who is ready to step into a Controller role . We are looking for someone who combines strong accounting fundamentals with a practical, hands-on approach and an interest in understanding how a manufacturing business actually operates. Key Responsibilities Lead the company's day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, and intercompany accounting. Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and management reporting. Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory valuation, work in process (WIP), material, labor, overhead, product margins, and manufacturing variances. Lead, develop, and support accounting team, including an Accounting Manager. Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial processes. Work with the President and Director of Finance on the annual budgeting process, periodic forecasts, and financial analyses. Provide financial analysis to support capital expenditures, investments, operational decisions, and other management initiatives. Work closely with manufacturing and operational leadership to understand business performance and identify opportunities for improved financial visibility and control. Coordinate with outside CPA firm on tax activities, annual financial statements, and other external accounting requirements.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial-statement preparation. Demonstrated experience managing month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Experience reviewing accounting work and supervising or developing accounting personnel. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail. Ability and willingness to work onsite in Plant City, Florida.

Preferred:

Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar role. Manufacturing accounting experience, particularly in an inventory-intensive environment. Experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, WIP, overhead allocation, and manufacturing variance analysis. Experience managing accounting across multiple legal entities and intercompany transactions. CPA or CMA certification. Experience with Sage accounting/ERP systems. What We're Looking For The right candidate will be comfortable operating at both the leadership and detailed accounting levels . This is not a position focused solely on reviewing reports from an office. We are looking for a Controller who is willing to understand our products, processes, inventory, and manufacturing operations—including spending time on the production floor when necessary to understand what is driving the numbers. You should be comfortable taking ownership of the accounting function while also working collaboratively with the President, Director of Finance, Accounting Manager, and operational leadership. Compensation & Benefits Salary Range:

Our Plant City operation combines engineering, manufacturing, quality, and business operations in a hands-on environment where leadership has direct involvement in the products and processes that drive the business. Sensenich has been in business for more than 90 years. The company traces its roots to 1927, when two brothers began experimenting with engines and propellers outside Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and was incorporated as Sensenich Brothers in 1932. By 1942, Sensenich had become the world's largest manufacturer of wooden propellers. Wood propeller production moved to Plant City in 1994 to be closer to the airboat market, and in 2023 the company consolidated all manufacturing operations in Plant City. Today, Sensenich is an FAA Production Certificate Holder and FAA Approved Repair Station.
