Job Description

Assistant Director of Finance — Nora Hotel, West Palm Beach (Pre-Opening & Operations | 201-Room Hotel, Spa & Multiple F&B Venues — Opening September 2026) Overview Nora Hotel West Palm Beach — a 201-room lifestyle hotel with a full-service spa and two large-scale food & beverage operations (Spa and F and B managed by third-party partners on behalf of ownership) — is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead financial planning, controls, and reporting from pre-opening through stabilized operations. The Finance Manager will oversee a small team (including a bookkeeper) and must be proactive, hands-on, and solutions-oriented Key Responsibilities Pre-Opening Finance & Controls Develop and manage detailed pre-opening budgets and cash flow projections Track and reconcile OSE procurement, vendor contracts, deliveries, and approvals Establish financial controls, documentation, and reporting frameworks prior to opening Operational Finance & Accounting Build stub-year and full operating budgets by department Lead monthly financial close and general ledger oversight Prepare variance analyses and actionable recommendations Oversee payroll processes and compliance Manage AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and cash flow discipline Produce timely financial reporting packages for ownership Ownership & Third-Party Partnership Interface Serve as primary finance liaison with spa, and F&B operators Monitor management fees, revenue share structures, and incentive calculations Ensure compliance with financial obligations outlined in management agreements Support reconciliations and transparency of funds moving between parties Compliance, Controls & Taxes Oversee occupancy tax filings and all applicable state/local tax submissions Maintain audit-ready records and support external audits Strengthen internal controls and financial best practices Leadership & Team Management Lead a two-person finance function, including a bookkeeper Implement efficient workflows, checklists, and reporting cadence Foster accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement Qualifications 5-8+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience in hospitality (required) Advanced Excel skills; PMS/accounting system experience (required) Proven experience in hotel pre-opening and active operations Strong understanding of hotel P&Ls, GL, and owner reporting Experience working with third-party operators and management agreements Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting Familiarity with OSE procurement and project accounting (preferred) Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Hands-on, practical leader who takes ownership and follows through Personal Attributes Self-starter with strong initiative and accountability Organized, efficient, and detail-oriented Clear communicator across ownership and operator environments Resourceful, solutions-driven, and comfortable building systems from scratch
