A Controller directs and oversees the treasury of a government, private corporation or non-profit organization, and may oversee the investment of funds. Supervises the quality of accounting and financial reporting within an organization, and directs preparation of reports that show the financial position of an organization.
Oversee all company accounts and investments. Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts. Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports. Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants. Motivate and lead the finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback. Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing. Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported. Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation. Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations. Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports. Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities. Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies. Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations. Report to the Managing Director with timely and accurate financial information. Assist the Managing Director in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field. A Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) is a plus. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation is a plus. Minimum 5 years of experience in a business or finance environment, with proven experience as a Financial Controller. Advanced knowledge of accounting software, preferably Acumatica. Strong working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations. Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g., SAP). Excellent mathematical skills; understanding of data privacy standards. Solid communication skills, both written and verbal. Public speaking skills. High attention to detail. Organizational skills, planning, and problem-solving skills. Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in accounting and financial management. Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations, etc.). Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data. An understanding of the engineering industry will be a significant advantage.
