Position Summary Berryman Transfer and Storage is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented hands-on Controller to oversee the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial activities of a growing logistics, transportation, and warehouse operation while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting experience within transportation, logistics, warehousing, or distribution environments and must be highly proficient in QuickBooks. This position plays a critical role in supporting operational leadership with financial analysis, reporting, and strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Oversee all accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll support, billing, and general ledger activity Prepare and maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Manage month-end and year-end close processes Develop financial reports, KPIs, and operational analysis for leadership Monitor cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting activities Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements Accounting & Compliance Maintain and manage the company's QuickBooks accounting system Ensure accuracy of financial records and transactions Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts Ensure compliance with GAAP principles, tax regulations, and company policies Coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, and tax professionals Assist with insurance audits, DOT-related financial reporting, and operational audits as needed Logistics & Operational Support Partner closely with operations leadership to analyze transportation and warehouse costs Review customer billing accuracy, freight invoicing, and contract profitability Monitor labor costs, overtime trends, and operational spending Support inventory and warehouse reporting processes Assist leadership with financial planning related to company growth initiatives Leadership & Process Improvement Help establish and improve accounting procedures and internal controls Support implementation of process improvements and financial efficiencies Train and support administrative/accounting staff as needed Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 5+ years of accounting or controller experience Experience within logistics, transportation, warehousing, or supply chain industries strongly preferred Advanced QuickBooks experience required Strong understanding of financial reporting and internal controls Experience managing high-volume billing and operational accounting Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Qualifications Experience with multi-company or multi-location operations Knowledge of transportation and warehouse KPIs Experience supporting operational leadership teams CPA designation is a plus but not required Work Environment Primarily office-based within a warehouse and transportation environment Interaction with operations, warehouse, dispatch, and leadership teams daily Fast-paced, growth-oriented company environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Bonus opportunity Health insurance Paid time off 401(k) with company match Career growth opportunities
