We're searching for a hands-on Controller who wants to do more than close the books. JOB SUMMARY
: The Controller oversees the Company's accounting operations while serving as a hands-on financial leader. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, managing cash flow, developing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The Controller actively performs key accounting functions while providing financial guidance to the President and Leadership Team. The role is responsible for improving financial processes, maintaining strong internal controls, and delivering timely financial information that supports the Company's growth and operational success.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning & Leadership
- Provide financial guidance and recommendations to the President and leadership team.
- Develop annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor financial performance and recommend opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiencies.
- Present financial results, trends, risks, and opportunities to leadership.
- Support business decisions through financial analysis and reporting. Accounting Operations
- Lead and participate in the daily accounting operations, including, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare and post journal entries and general ledger adjustments.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of all financial records.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls.
- Partner with the President on banking relationships and with Human Resources on insurance administration. Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Develop management reports and key performance indicators.
- Produce cash flow forecasts and ad hoc financial analysis. Business Performance & Analysis
- Analyze customer and inventory profitability.
- Develop and monitor dashboards and financial metrics.
- Partner with department leaders to improve financial performance. Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team.
- Establish department priorities and performance expectations.
- Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Crosstrain staff to ensure business continuity. Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Serve as the financial lead for Epicor Eclipse/P21 ERP optimization and reporting.
- Partner with Operations, Purchasing, Human Resources, and IT to improve workflows and reporting.
- Evaluate technology solutions that improve efficiency and scalability. Cross-Functional Support
- Provide payroll backup as needed.
- Assist with commission and incentive compensation administration.
- Provide financial support for special projects and business initiatives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or relevant field.
- 8•10 years of accounting and finance experience.
- Experience working with Epicor Eclipse or P21 ERP is required.
- Experience in retail, wholesale, home furnishings, building products, specialty distribution, or a similarly inventory-driven business environment preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management.
- Demonstrated success in implementing process improvement and strengthening internal controls.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Advanced knowledge of Epicor Eclipse ERP/financial systems and Microsoft Office including Excel.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships across all levels and functions of an organization.
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs, technology, and priorities.
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
