Company Description Bearing Point Properties is a real estate development company specializing in multifamily projects across Southeast Louisiana. Founded in 2013, the organization has successfully delivered multifamily, commercial, and residential developments, building a diverse and growing portfolio. In addition to development, Bearing Point Properties is actively involved in property management, providing hands-on oversight of its assets. The company also focuses on real estate investment opportunities, offering value-driven solutions for investors and partners. Role Description The Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in Baton Rouge, LA, responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting for Bearing Point Properties and its related entities. This position manages day-to-day general ledger activities, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll coordination, and month-end and year-end close processes. The Controller prepares and analyzes financial statements, monitors budgets, tracks project costs, and supports cash flow forecasting for development and property management operations. The role also ensures compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal controls, while liaising with external auditors, lenders, and investors as needed. The Controller collaborates closely with senior leadership to provide financial insights, support strategic decision-making, and implement process improvements across the organization. Qualifications Strong accounting and finance skills, including general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis. Experience with real estate or property management accounting, such as project cost tracking, rent rolls, and CAM reconciliations. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to create and maintain financial models and reports. Knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, internal controls, and audit processes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities with attention to detail and accuracy. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders. Ability to work on-site, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is preferred. Prior experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant in real estate, construction, or a related industry is highly beneficial.
