Assistant Controller

We are looking for an Assistant Controller to help lead core accounting operations and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting for our Metairie, Louisiana team. This position partners closely with the Controller to strengthen reporting processes, support compliance efforts, and guide day-to-day accounting activities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to improve efficiency while maintaining a high standard of financial accuracy.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with the Controller to manage daily accounting activities and keep financial operations running smoothly.
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycle, ensuring deadlines are met and reporting is complete and reliable.
• Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements and supporting schedules to confirm accuracy and consistency.
• Oversee accounting personnel, providing direction, coaching, and development support across functions such as general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Examine journal entries, reconciliations, and balance sheet activity to resolve discrepancies and maintain strong records.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial variance reviews to support informed business decisions.
• Strengthen accounting policies and internal control practices to promote compliance and reduce risk.
• Collaborate with external auditors, assemble requested documentation, and assist throughout audit engagements.
• Support tax-related reporting and filings, including areas such as sales and use tax and property tax compliance.
• Step in for the Controller when needed and assist with process enhancements, automation efforts, and accounting system improvements.
