Controller Home Improvement | New England Region Yankee Home is seeking a hands-on Controller to own and lead day-to-day financial operations. This role will serve as the operational finance lead and full owner of the function, working directly with the Director of Finance & IT and partnering closely with leadership across the business. The Controller will own the function through oversight, control, and process management, supported by an in-house Accounting Coordinator responsible for transactional execution (AP, cash application, and reconciliations). The ideal candidate is a strong Controller-level operator who has owned this function within a $30M-$50M construction or home improvement company and is comfortable operating in a fast-growth, evolving environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & Close Own day-to-day financial operations, including P&L accuracy, cash visibility, and timely, reliable reporting Own the monthly close process end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to timelines Maintain strong financial controls to ensure consistency, accuracy, and risk mitigation Cash Flow & Liquidity Management Maintain tight control over cash, with proactive visibility into timing, risks, and liquidity needs Build and maintain short-term (weekly) and mid-term cash flow forecasts Ensure strong coordination between billing, collections, and disbursements Job Costing & Profitability Ensure accurate job cost accounting and clear visibility into project-level profitability and margins Monitor margin performance and proactively identify variances or issues Reporting & Performance Visibility Build and maintain reporting that supports leadership decision-making Develop KPI reporting that connects financial performance to operational drivers (revenue, margin, marketing efficiency, and production performance) Cross-Functional Partnership Partner closely with operations, sales, and marketing leaders to align financial performance with business goals Hold teams accountable to financial targets through visibility, analysis, and follow-through Process Improvement & Scalability Identify and implement process improvements to support scalability and efficiency Build systems and processes that can support continued growth Team Oversight Oversee the Accounting Coordinator responsible for AP, cash application, and transaction processing Ensure transactions are accurate, complete, and properly recorded Establish clear processes, expectations, and accountability within the function Ownership & Judgment Proactively identify, pressure-test, and address issues when something appears off Operate with strong judgment, making independent decisions and escalating only when necessary Qualifications Experience as a Controller, Finance Manager, or Director of Finance with full ownership of the function Prior experience in a $30M-$50M construction, home improvement, or project-based business strongly preferred Strong hands-on experience with job cost accounting and operational finance Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth, and evolving environment Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work independently and drive outcomes Comfortable operating in a hands-on role with both execution and decision-making responsibility Experience with QuickBooks, Salesforce, or similar systems Strong attention to detail with the ability to connect financial data to business performance What This Person Will Own Monthly close end-to-end Accuracy and reliability of financials Cash visibility, forecasting, and liquidity management Job costing accuracy and margin visibility Reporting and KPI visibility for leadership Financial discipline, controls, and operational consistency Day-to-day ownership of the finance function Opportunity This is a highly hands-on role for someone who thrives in ownership and accountability and is excited to step into a function that is growing and evolving. Pay:
$120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year Benefits:
