A Controller directs and oversees the treasury of a government, private corporation or non-profit organization, and may oversee the investment of funds. Supervises the quality of accounting and financial reporting within an organization, and directs preparation of reports that show the financial position of an organization.
1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. 2. Maintain internal control safeguards and coordinate all audit activities. 3. Manage cash flow and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs. 4. Optimize the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions. 5. Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets so as to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally. 6. Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines. 7. Leverage strengths of the finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals. 8. Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field. An MBA, CPA, or related designation is highly preferred. 2. 5+ years of experience in a senior financial managerial position, with a proven track record of success. 3. Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations. 4. A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles. 5. Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations. 6. Proficient user of finance software. 7. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. 8. Able to manage, guide, and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used. 9. A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles. 10. Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations. 11. High level of proficiency in Excel and other financial planning software. 12. Proven strategic planning experience at the management level. 13. Proficient in using financial software and advanced MS Excel skills to manipulate and analyze complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from various sources. 14. Experience in the development of strategic business and/or operational plans, budgets, and financial forecasting. 15. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 16. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
