Jobs › New Bedford, MA › Controller Robert Half Controller New Bedford, MA Apply Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a growing organization in Massachusetts on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent role. This role will lead core accounting activities, strengthen financial reporting practices, and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to guide month-end and year-end processes in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Direct day-to-day accounting functions across billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, the general ledger, cost accounting, inventory oversight, and revenue recognition activities.
- Lead the preparation and submission of financial and regulatory reports while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Oversee monthly and annual closing cycles, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are completed with precision.
- Review financial transactions and reporting outputs to uphold strong controls and dependable accounting practices.
- Manage tax-related and statutory reporting obligations in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Create, refine, and document accounting procedures and internal policies to support effective controls and operational efficiency.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to support audits, annual financial statement preparation, and related documentation needs.
- Take on additional financial leadership duties as needed to support the broader accounting function. Requirements
- Demonstrated experience serving in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role.
- At least five years of combined accounting and finance experience in a hands-on setting that requires accuracy and attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field with strong accounting coursework.
- Solid command of accounting standards, financial procedures, and internal control principles.
- Practical experience managing general ledger activity and coordinating month-end and year-end close processes.
- Proficiency with accounting software systems, including strong user-level capability and system administration knowledge.
- Excellent organizational ability with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience supporting audited financial statements and maintaining well-organized financial documentation.
