Job Description:
Fund Accounting Assistant Controller
  • PE•Boston•Hybrid A leading Boston-based PE firm is seeking an Assistant Controller to support their accounting, reporting, and operational finance functions.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced fund accounting professional who enjoys working across various teams and is interested in driving automation and process improvement.
Responsibilities:
Manage accounting and financial reporting for private equity funds, co-investment vehicles, and continuation funds Oversee third-party fund administrators and quarterly/annual close processes Prepare and review financial statements, partner capital accounts, and supporting schedules Manage capital calls, distributions, reserves, and investor reporting Support investment transaction accounting, treasury activities, and annual partnership audits Ensure compliance with partnership agreements, GAAP, and regulatory requirements Partner with tax, legal, investment, and finance teams on cross-functional initiatives Identify opportunities to improve workflows through automation, data analytics, and emerging AI technologies Strengthen financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA strongly preferred 6+ years of experience Strong knowledge of GAAP and partnership accounting Experience working with fund administrators, auditors, and investment professionals Familiarity with fund accounting systems and financial reporting platforms Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Interest in automation, data analytics, and AI-driven process improvement This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded private equity firm and work closely with senior finance and investment professionals. You will play a meaningful role in improving technology and automation across the finance function. The approximate compensation range for this role is between $130K
