full-time We're partnering with a growing nonprofit organization in Western Massachusetts that's looking to add an experienced Controller to its finance leadership team. This is a hands-on accounting leadership position for someone who enjoys being close to the numbers while also leading and developing a team. You'll take significant ownership of the general ledger, financial reporting, accounting operations, and month-end close while overseeing a team of approximately eight accounting professionals. They want an experienced accounting leader who can become a consistent presence within the finance department, build a strong team, and take long-term ownership of the function. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and maintain ownership of the general ledger Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals Review team workloads and help establish clear expectations, processes, and accountability Maintain strong accounting controls and identify opportunities to improve existing procedures Partner with finance leadership on reporting, analysis, and accounting issues Work with large and complex datasets to investigate discrepancies and ensure reporting accuracy Support budgeting, audit preparation, and other organization-wide finance initiatives Play an active role in the organization's continued development of its ERP and financial systems Help improve reporting and accounting workflows as the organization continues to grow Serve as a reliable accounting resource to both the finance team and operational leadership Requirements Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and general ledger ownership Experience managing month-end close and financial reporting Previous experience supervising, mentoring, and developing accounting staff Strong Excel skills and comfort working with complex financial data Exposure to an ERP implementation, conversion, or optimization is a plus
