Job Description
CONTROLLER
Reports To CFO Manages Project Accountants, Senior Accountants, Payroll, Compliance Summary/Objective The Controller oversees and manages all project cost reporting as well as month-end and ad-hoc reports, and Compliance. They provide direction to the project accountants while playing a pivotal role in supporting the Controller and CFO. Primary Responsibilities/Functions Oversee the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets. Oversee the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance. Oversee the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, etc.; funding service management, which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management. Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes. Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value. Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate his financial needs. Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports. Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. Oversee all Bonding and Surety Project requirements, including Surety Letters and Final Consent of Surety. Inventory, assets, and other monthly account reconciliations. Performs other related duties as assigned. GL coding review. Required Skills/Attributes Financial management Technical capacity Performance management Ethical conduct Communication proficiency Personal effectiveness/credibility Required Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance 10 years of hands-on accounting managerial experience Preferred Education/ Experience MBA CPA Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration when on a job site. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee is required to have a clean workspace in the office. In an instance where the employee is working offsite, at home, at a hotel, etc., the employee is required to have a clean workspace for virtual meetings, internally or externally with clients, vendors, etc. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active when on a job site and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position (40 hours). Workdays are Monday through Friday, work times are dependent on department, projects, and supervisor's request and approval.
