BMW Automotive Accounting Comptroller — Full-TimePassport BMW one of the DC area's largest dealerships with 35 years of history.
Join a high-performing automotive dealership and lead our accounting operations. We're seeking an experienced Automotive Accounting Controller to oversee financial reporting, internal controls, cash management, and the daily functions of a busy retail automotive environment. This role is critical to the dealership's financial health, accuracy, and compliance.

We're seeking an experienced Automotive Accounting Controller to oversee financial reporting, internal controls, cash management, and the daily functions of a busy retail automotive environment. This role is critical to the dealership's financial health, accuracy, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions: GL, AP/AR, payroll, schedules, and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and manufacturer requirements
- Manage month-end and year-end close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Monitor cash flow, banking relationships, and liquidity needs
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard dealership assets and ensure compliance with regulations
- Review schedules, investigate unusual entries, and ensure proper reconciliations (bank, reserve, factory payable, floorplan)
- Ensure all manufacturer accounts (warranty, rebates, co-op, interest credits) are accurate and current
- Coordinate internal and external audits, providing required documentation and addressing findings
- Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to senior management to support strategic decisions
- Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff; promote a culture of accuracy and accountabilityQualifications
- Minimum 3+ years experience as an Automotive Controller or Assistant Controller in a dealership environment
- Strong understanding of dealership financial statements, internal controls, and compliance standards
- EXCEL proficiency is of the
HIGHEST PRIORITY.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to lead a team and collaborate across departments
- Deep knowledge of inventory accounting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition in automotive retailWhat We Offer
