Job Description
Overview:
Sunday River Resort is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our Accounting team at one of New England's leading four-season ski and golf resorts. Reporting directly to the Vice President and Controller, this is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing general accounting operations, financial reporting, and operating budget management across the resort. This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitality finance professional looking to take ownership of resort-level accounting in a dynamic, fast-paced environment — with the added perk of working where others vacation.Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare financial statements, forecasts, and summary reports covering income, expenses, earnings, and cash flow based on past, present, and projected operations Provide management with timely, accurate reviews of the resort's financial status and progress across departments and programs Direct daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting in compliance with corporate standards; develop and monitor internal controls and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance General Accounting & Controls Review cash disbursements to ensure compliance with established procedures; release disbursements or investigate and resolve discrepancies Coordinate internal and external audits of company accounts Perform specialized accounting tasks as assigned by the Vice President and Controller Budgeting & Forecasting Develop and manage the resort's operating budgets, including seasonal budget targets Maintain, issue, and reconcile budgeting templates across departments Partner with department managers and team members to build realistic targets and drive accountability to plan Team Leadership Lead an accounting team of up to 3 direct reports, with a total team of up to 12 including seasonal staff Delegate, coach, and develop team members in alignment with the resort's commitment to growing great people During peak business periods, contribute up to 4-8 additional hours per week outside the home department as needed Culture & Core Values Model and champion the resort's core values in every interaction: K.R.P. — Kindness, Respect, and ProfessionalismL.E.A.D.S

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA designation a plus Minimum 3-5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in a hospitality, resort, or multi-department environment Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, general ledger reconciliation, and the full accounting cycle Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with hospitality accounting software Demonstrated experience developing and managing operating budgets Prior leadership experience supervising an accounting team Excellent analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced, seasonal business environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance Compensation & Benefits Salary range of $85k to $100k, based on experience and qualifications, with room for professional growth and advancement.
