A Controller directs and oversees the treasury of a government, private corporation or non-profit organization, and may oversee the investment of funds. Supervises the quality of accounting and financial reporting within an organization, and directs preparation of reports that show the financial position of an organization.
Seeking a hands-on, 100% on-site Manufacturing Controller to report directly to the President and oversee financial operations for our $35MM production business spanning four facilities in the Muskegon area for Bauer Metal Works . You will lead cost accounting, inventory valuation, and month-end close using our ERP platform. This role partners directly with plant operations and executive leadership to optimize efficiency and drive profitability.
Key Responsibilities Executive Partnership:
Report directly to the President, serving as a strategic financial advisor on operations, profitability, and growth strategies.
ERP Management:
Utilize our ERP system to streamline data flow, automate reporting, and improve financial visibility across our regional production sites.
Cost Accounting:
Maintain accurate product costing, track manufacturing variances (labor, material, overhead), and analyze product line profitability.
Mixed-Mode Production Management:
Handle accounting complexities for both make-to-stock (MTS) and make-to-order (MTO) manufacturing business models.
Multi-Facility Inventory Control:
Partner with operations to manage inventory valuation, optimize cycle counts, and audit physical inventory counts across four plant locations.
Financial Reporting:
Direct the month-end close process and deliver accurate manufacturing financial statements, KPIs, and variance analysis reports.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Coordinate the annual budget and build monthly rolling forecasts for production volumes and capital expenditures (CapEx).
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting is a must.
Experience:
7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing plant environment.
Manufacturing Accounting:
Strong expertise in both make-to-stock and make-to-order accounting environments.
ERP Systems:
Deep expertise using and maintaining manufacturing ERP environments.
Certifications & Advanced Degrees:
CPA, CMA, or an MBA is preferred but not required.
Technical Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data modeling). Knowledge of Global Shop Solutions is a major plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong cross-functional leadership skills to communicate financial insights effectively to shop floor supervisors and executives.

$100,000 - $125,000 (commensurate with experience).
