Automotive Dealership Controller Asheville, NC We are seeking an experienced Automotive Dealership Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a single-point franchised automotive dealership in Columbus, Ohio. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated financial leader who wants to play a key role in the continued growth and success of a high-performing dealership. Position Summary The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial functions of the dealership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, managing treasury operations, and leading the accounting and administrative team. This individual will serve as a trusted business partner to the Dealer Principal and General Manager by providing financial insight and operational support. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with company and manufacturer reporting requirements. Analyze financial performance and provide meaningful recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Oversee all treasury functions, including cash management, ACH approvals, bank reconciliations, and floorplan financing. Manage payroll administration and assist with human resources functions. Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company accounting policies. Supervise all dealership accounting functions, including: Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Contracts and Deals Licensing and Titling Vehicle Inventory Accounting General Ledger Reconciliations Coordinate monthly account reconciliations and physical inventory reconciliations. Prepare daily, weekly, and month-end financial reports. Monitor expense trends and recommend cost-control initiatives. Partner with department managers to review financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Coordinate annual financial reviews and external audits. Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting processes and internal controls. Safeguard dealership assets and ensure compliance with company policies. Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise accounting and administrative staff. Manage relationships with banks, auditors, manufacturers, and other financial partners. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of five years of automotive dealership accounting experience , including prior Controller or Office Manager experience preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of dealership accounting operations, including deals, titling, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial statement preparation. Strong understanding of GAAP and internal accounting controls. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Dealertrack DMS is preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Office. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate a high-performing team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial managers. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while supporting both the Dealer Principal and General Manager.
