Onsite preferred; hybrid considered for the right candidate Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Renewable Energy Controller for a long-term contract opportunity in the heart of Western North Carolina. This role requires a hands-on financial leader who can hit the ground running in the renewable energy construction space, with particular expertise supporting the building, construction, and operation of solar plants. This is a high-impact role for a experienced professional who brings both strong technical depth and the maturity to help guide an immature team, establish structure, and build out the financial toolbox needed for long-term success. The ideal candidate will have a heart of a teacher and be comfortable operating at both a strategic and tactical level. Key Responsibilities
+ Lead the accounting and financial oversight for renewable energy construction projects, with a focus on solar plant construction and operations
+ Manage project costing and oversee budget-to-actual analysis across active construction projects
+ Administer and review the construction draw process, including coordination with project teams, lenders, and external stakeholders
+ Support and improve the overall accounting processes related to construction projects and renewable energy operations
+ Partner with leadership in a Controller / CFO capacity, helping drive financial decisions and operational discipline
+ Work closely with lenders and financing partners on construction draws, reporting, and compliance requirements
+ Develop, refine, and implement financial tools, controls, and processes to support a growing organization
+ Provide leadership and mentorship to team members by helping build capabilities, structure, and best practices
+ Serve as a key decisionmaker related to project financials, construction accounting, and reporting Requirements Required Qualifications
+ Significant experience in the renewable energy industry, specifically within the construction side of the business
+ Strong background supporting the construction, buildout, and/or operation of solar plants
+ Demonstrated experience with project costing, construction accounting, and budget-to-actual reporting
+ Proven ability to step into a developing environment and provide immediate, practical leadership
+ Experience operating at a Controller or CFO level
+ Strong understanding of accounting processes within a construction-driven environment
+ Ability to make sound financial decisions and provide leadership in a fast-moving setting
