Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a Business Controller to serve as a strategic financial partner to our chemical distribution, engineering, and manufacturing operations. This position will oversee financial reporting, job costing, profitability analysis, budgeting, inventory, commercial bid support, and financial risk management while providing leadership with actionable financial and operational insights. Key Responsibilities Financial & Project Management Oversee monthly financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls. Track project and job profitability, including labor, materials, engineering, freight, and subcontractor costs. Manage WIP accounting and project revenue recognition. Perform variance analysis and identify cost savings and margin improvement opportunities. Commercial & Operational Analysis Support sales and engineering teams with pricing models and financial analysis for RFPs, RFQs, and bids. Review contracts for financial risks, payment terms, bonding, insurance, and other commercial requirements. Analyze chemical inventory, landed costs, freight, supplier pricing, inventory turns, and customer profitability. Develop and monitor KPIs for gross margin, project profitability, freight costs, inventory, working capital, and manufacturing efficiency. Risk & Working Capital Oversee commercial insurance, claims, renewals, certificates of insurance, and premium audits. Coordinate bonding requirements and support contract risk reviews. Monitor accounts receivable, customer credit, working capital, and cash flow. Identify financial and operational risks and communicate recommendations to company leadership. Systems & Process Improvement Improve accounting, job-costing, inventory, and financial reporting processes. Develop financial models and reporting tools to support management decisions and profitable growth. Work with accounting, sales, operations, engineering, and procurement teams to improve financial performance.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field . 5+ years of progressive accounting, finance, cost accounting, FP&A, or business controller experience. Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and job/project costing. Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting system skills.
Preferred:
CPA, CMA, MBA, or other relevant professional certification. Experience in chemical distribution, industrial manufacturing, engineering, construction, or another project-based business . Experience with inventory costing, WIP accounting, freight/landed-cost analysis, and commercial bid support.
Equivalent Experience:
Relevant industry experience and demonstrated financial management capabilities may be considered in lieu of a portion of the formal education requirement for exceptionally qualified candidates.
Pay:
From $65,000.00 per year
