Financial Controller We are a growing, multi-site organization is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its leadership team. This key financial leadership role is responsible for safeguarding financial integrity while building the processes, controls, systems, and team structure needed to support continued growth. The ideal candidate combines controller-level accounting expertise with hands-on leadership . This position will partner closely with the CFO, lead a multi-entity bookkeeping team, strengthen financial reporting and cash visibility, and drive improvements that make accounting operations more efficient, scalable, and reliable. What You'll Do Accounting & Financial Reporting Lead accounting operations in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Oversee accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closes and ensure leadership receives reliable income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and supporting schedules. Bookkeeping Team Leadership Lead and develop the bookkeeping team supporting multiple entities and locations. Establish clear responsibilities, deadlines, workloads, and performance expectations. Review work for accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and compliance while providing technical guidance, training, coaching, and accountability. Cash Flow Management Maintain reliable short- and long-term cash forecasts and provide leadership with clear visibility into the organization's cash position. Monitor balances, receipts, payroll, obligations, and available credit while coordinating transfers and funding strategies to minimize borrowing and prevent overdrafts, late payments, or operational disruptions. Accounts Payable Management Oversee the complete accounts payable cycle, including invoice receipt, coding, matching, approvals, payments, and reconciliations. Ensure expenses are properly supported, authorized, allocated, and recorded in the correct accounting period while maintaining appropriate segregation of duties. Systems & Process Improvement Evaluate accounting workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and internal controls. Develop and maintain accounting policies, SOPs, checklists, approval workflows, dashboards, and exception reporting. Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Payroll, Operations, HR, Revenue Cycle Management, and executive leadership to improve information flow and reduce manual processes, duplicate entry, delays, and reliance on undocumented knowledge. Internal Controls & Compliance Design, implement, and monitor internal controls that protect organizational assets and support accurate financial reporting. Maintain appropriate separation between transaction entry, approval, payment, reconciliation, and review. Oversee accounting and financial-system access and approval authority and help ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, debt agreements, tax obligations, and applicable regulations. Investigate discrepancies, exceptions, and unreconciled items and strengthen controls when risks are identified. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience 2+ years of experience leading an accounting or bookkeeping team Advanced knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting Strong financial reporting and structured monthly-close experience Experience with internal controls, cash management, and accounts payable Proven ability to improve accounting processes, systems, and workflows Advanced accounting-software and Microsoft Excel skills Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities Ability to prioritize effectively in a growing, fast-paced organization Excellent written and verbal communication skills High level of integrity, discretion, and sound judgment Preferred Experience Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Financial Manager within a multi-entity or multi-location organization is strongly preferred. Experience with the following is also highly valued: QuickBooks Sage Intacct Accounting-system implementations or conversions Expense-management platforms Multi-entity consolidations Intercompany accounting Location-level financial reporting Shared-cost allocations Accounting automation and process redesign What Success Looks Like Success in this role means producing accurate financial statements on schedule, maintaining reliable cash forecasts, ensuring sufficient funding for critical obligations, and managing accounts payable accurately and efficiently. You'll also help build consistent, well-documented financial processes across the organization, reduce errors and unreconciled items, create measurable efficiencies through automation and process improvement, and provide leadership with clear, decision-ready financial information.
