Job Description

Assistant
CONTROLLER
—Our client seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to join their team in Bedford, NH We are looking for an Assistant Controller with at least 5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry. A deep knowledge of financial analysis, financial reporting, job cost accounting, manufacturing variance monitoring and budgeting are required. A keen analytical, organizational and problem-solving mentality to provide strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting is desired. Primary responsibilities of the Assistant Controller will include to assist the Controller to:
  • Maintain financial systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Complete monthly financial closing including completing or reviewing reconciliations and recording journal entries, as necessary
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, cash forecasts, and special analyses
  • Manage all treasury functions
  • Provide leadership and oversight of accounting team in the general accounting, accounts payable, billing, credit/collection, and payroll functions
  • Develop a strong culture of collaboration and high-level execution to create the foundation to support expect growth
  • Prepare borrowing bases and comply with reporting requirements for lender
  • Coordinate the preparation of the annual income tax filings with the outside CPA firm
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit conducted by the outside CPA firm
  • Aid in the migration from our legacy accounting system to a more robust platform
  • Work with the production staff to update and maintain the cost accounting system and monitor variances to identify issues or improvements
  • Evaluate and implement new ways to improve efficiencies across the Company
  • Develop, implement and maintain financial and accounting policies and procedures that enable a robust control environment
  • Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget by working with other members of the management team, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data
  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting and Inventory Management
  • Conduct internal/external audits
  • Assists with special projects and completes other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years' experience in the manufacturing industry, including cost accounting experience is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to the company mission; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the President, the responsibility for finance
  • Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software. Paychex Payroll preferred.
  • Previous audit experience preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems and implementations required
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
