We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Controller to oversee all financial activities for our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing accounting experience and a proven ability to support operational decision-making through financial analysis and reporting. Position Summary The Plant Controller is responsible for managing the financial operations of the manufacturing facility, including cost accounting, inventory control, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and operational analysis. This role partners closely with plant leadership to improve profitability, control costs, and support strategic business objectives. Essential Responsibilities Lead all plant accounting and financial reporting activities. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, variance reports, and key performance metrics. Manage standard costing, cost accounting, and inventory valuation processes. Monitor production costs, labor efficiency, material usage, and manufacturing variances. Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. Support month-end and year-end closing activities. Ensure accuracy of inventory records through cycle counts and physical inventory audits. Partner with Operations, Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to identify cost-saving opportunities. Analyze capital expenditures and provide financial support for investment decisions. Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities as needed. Generate financial reports and presentations for senior management. Assist with external audits and tax-related requirements. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational and financial performance. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred. Experience 5+ years of accounting or finance experience in a manufacturing environment. 3+ years of experience in a Plant Controller, Cost Accountant, or Senior Manufacturing Accounting role preferred. Experience in plastics, packaging, paper products, food containers, or consumer goods manufacturing strongly preferred. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of cost accounting and standard costing methodologies. Experience with inventory management and manufacturing ERP systems. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Ability to work cross-functionally with plant and corporate leadership. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles is a plus.
