Job Description
We are looking for a Controller to support a light manufacturing organization in Flemington, New Jersey. This Long-term Contract position will take ownership of the full accounting cycle in a standalone capacity, producing accurate financial statements and establishing a reliable month-end close process. This role is mostly onsite (4 days a week). This position is contract with potential to be converted to a permanent position.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the complete general accounting function independently, ensuring financial records are accurate, current, and well organized.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements with clear supporting documentation and analysis.
- Build, execute, and refine a consistent month-end close process to improve timeliness and reporting accuracy.
- Oversee account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and other closing activities across the full book of business.
- Develop Excel-based schedules, analyses, and reporting tools to support decision-making and financial oversight.
- Identify gaps in existing accounting workflows and implement practical improvements to strengthen controls and consistency.
- Proven experience serving in a Controller or senior-level accounting role with ownership of the full close process.
- Strong background in preparing complete financial statements in a manufacturing or product-based business environment.
- Hands-on expertise with month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accrual management.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for analysis, reporting, and financial data management.
- Ability to operate effectively in a standalone role with minimal oversight.
- Strong attention to detail and a dependable, organized approach to financial reporting.
