Job Description:
Controller - NYC Endowment A global endowment located in NYC is seeking a Controller to join their team. The Controller will be a key member of a small, collaborative team responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the endowment and related entities. This is a hands-on role with broad exposure across accounting, audit, governance, and operational support.
Responsibilities :
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation Ensure reporting is maintained in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies Oversee and review third-party fund administrators and accounting providers Serve as primary liaison for audit and tax matters Coordinate audit committee materials, governance documentation, and meeting deliverables Identify financial reporting risks and recommend process improvements Support vendor management and operational initiatives
Qualifications :
BA/BS degree in Accounting CPA preferred 5+ years of relevant accounting experience (investment, fund, endowment, or financial services) Strong knowledge of
U.S. GAAP
Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with systems such as QuickBooks, Dynamo, BNY, TPM/Caissa, or Private I is a plus Knowledge of asset allocation and alternative investments preferred
Compensation:
