Job Description
Assistant Controller Position Summary The Assistant Casino Controller is responsible for overseeing the casino's accounting and financial reporting functions for revenue reporting, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete financial records in accordance, applicable Nevada gaming regulations, internal controls, and company policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Direct and oversee the daily accounting operations of the casino revenue audit department.
- Ensure the general ledger is accurate, complete, and properly supported.
- Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Assist in the preparation and review financial statements, management reports, and financial analyses.
- Establish and maintain appropriate accounting procedures and documentation for all revenue audits.
- Ensure assigned balance sheet accounts are reconciled timely and supported by appropriate documentation and external or independent source information. Casino and Gaming Accounting
- Ensure gaming revenues and expenses are properly recorded and reconciled.
- Maintain appropriate controls over casino cash and other gaming assets.
- Work closely with Casino Operations, Cage, Count, Slots, Table Games, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor compliance with applicable Nevada gaming accounting and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with gaming compliance personnel regarding financial control requirements and regulatory matters.
- Ensure required financial records and reports are accurate, complete, and available for regulatory examination.
- Standardize and train when needed. Internal Controls and Compliance
- Establish, maintain, and monitor effective internal controls over financial reporting and casino operations.
- Identify control weaknesses and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure segregation of duties within accounting and financial processes.
- Maintain written accounting policies, procedures, and internal control documentation.
- Investigate significant accounting discrepancies and recommend corrective action.
- Support management's efforts to prevent and detect fraud, errors, and financial irregularities. Audit and Regulatory Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating annual financial statement audits and other external examinations.
- Provide auditors with accurate schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and explanations.
- Ensure audit requests are addressed accurately and timely.
- Track audit findings and coordinate implementation of corrective actions.
- Assist with regulatory reporting and examinations required by applicable Nevada gaming authorities.
- Maintain records in a condition that supports efficient regulatory and audit review. Leadership and Staff Management
- Lead, supervise, train, and develop accounting personnel.
- Establish clear responsibilities and performance expectations for accounting staff.
- Review accounting processes for efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and compliance.
- Ensure adequate staffing and appropriate segregation of duties.
- Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to accounting employees. QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Significant accounting experience, preferably within the casino, gaming, hospitality, or entertainment industry.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting processes.
- Experience managing month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Experience working with external and/or internal auditors.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity and professional judgment. Preferred
- CPA, MBA, or other relevant professional certification.
- Previous Assistant Controller or high level Manager experience in a casino or gaming environment.
- Knowledge of Nevada gaming regulations and casino accounting practices.
- Experience with gaming accounting systems and enterprise financial systems.
- Experience working directly with the Casino Controller. Knowledge and Skills

- Understanding of internal control principles.

- Ability to work extended hours during month-end, year-end, audit, and regulatory periods as needed.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, or varying schedules when business requirements dictate.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
- Ability to meet the requirements applicable to employment in a Nevada gaming operation, including any required gaming licensing or regulatory approvals. Key Performance Expectations
