Summary We are seeking a Director of Finance to join Tompkins County, where you will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial operations and ensuring the fiscal health of our community. This position is crucial for guiding financial strategy and supporting the delivery of vital public services. Responsibilities Lead the financial planning and budgeting processes for Tompkins County. Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable and financial reporting. Develop financial forecasts and models to support strategic decision-making. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards in all operations. Conduct account analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement. Prepare comprehensive financial reports for stakeholders and county leadership. Collaborate with department heads to align financial strategies with departmental goals. Requirements Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; Master's degree preferred. Proven experience in financial management or accounting roles, preferably within government or public sector. Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Effective communication skills for presenting financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
