Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller who specializes in construction and has an active CPA designation to oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting for our company. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with extensive knowledge of construction accounting principles, including percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, and work-in-progress reporting. This role partners closely with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure financial accuracy, maximize profitability, and support strategic decision making.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Active CPA license. 7-10 years of accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of:
Construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, percentage of completion accounting, revenue recognition, and GAAP. Advanced Microsoft office skills. Preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements. Account reconciliations, trend identification, divisional P&Ls, etc. Coordinate annual audits (CPA, insurance, union, etc.) Experience running payroll and submitting union reports. Experience preparing and filing monthly sales tax reports. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Mix of public and private accounting experience. Sage Intacct experience. Maintaining a 13-week cash flow detail report daily. Manage accounting software and implement process improvements. This role has 3 direct reports - two billing analysts and an accounts payable clerk.
Pay:
$140,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
