Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a growing organization in Cleveland, Ohio. This role is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting sound business decisions through analysis and forecasting, and maintaining strong compliance across payroll, tax, and audit activities. The ideal candidate brings leadership experience, strong technical accounting knowledge, and a background in construction or project-based financial environments.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the monthly close cycle and produce timely financial statements that reflect accurate operating results.
  • Prepare, review, and file quarterly tax documents while maintaining active state registrations and related compliance records.
  • Oversee general ledger activity, verify journal entries, track receivables, and ensure vendor disbursements are processed correctly and on schedule.
  • Develop and maintain work-in-progress reporting, partnering with operations teams to support accurate month-end project accounting.
  • Ensure accounting practices align with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies across all reporting processes.
  • Respond to audit requests by organizing documentation, coordinating deliverables, and supporting external or internal review activities.
  • Supervise accounting staff by providing coaching, performance feedback, and ongoing development support.
  • Manage payroll administration and related reporting to ensure employees are paid accurately and in compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Create forecasts, evaluate financial trends, and explain budget-to-actual variances to help management make informed decisions.
