Job Description Summary The Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in managing the hotel's financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and effective internal controls. This role plays a key part in financial analysis, process improvement, and team leadership while helping drive profitability and operational excellence. Job Description Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Compliance Assist in preparing accurate and timely monthly financial statements with supporting schedules in accordance with: Company policies and procedures Hotel management agreements GAAP Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI) Support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 controls and internal audit requirements. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including licenses, permits, and tax filings. Assist with audit preparation, documentation, and response to auditor requests. Ensure proper record retention in alignment with company and regulatory guidelines. Financial Operations Support oversight of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, credit, cash handling, and treasury functions. Conduct biweekly payroll reviews and assist with payroll processing. Help implement and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls to safeguard assets. Monitor purchasing and procurement compliance and review corporate purchasing reports. Assist in managing A/R processes, including collections and credit practices. Financial Planning & Analysis Support forecasting and budgeting processes, including distribution of financial outlooks. Analyze financial results and assist with variance reporting versus budget and forecast. Partner with department leaders to provide insight into financial performance. Use performance data and benchmarking to support revenue optimization and cost control initiatives. Strategy & Execution Assist in aligning departmental financial goals with company strategy. Provide support in communicating financial results and initiatives to department leaders. Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies. People Leadership & Team Support Assist in recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing finance team members. Provide ongoing feedback and support performance management efforts. Help ensure team adherence to company policies, procedures, and standards. Support employee engagement and address team concerns in a timely and professional manner. Culture & Engagement Promote a collaborative, service-oriented culture across departments. Build strong working relationships with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders. Lead by example with integrity, professionalism, and respect. Support initiatives that enhance employee, guest, and owner satisfaction. Qualifications & Skills Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred. Hospitality or hotel finance experience strongly preferred. Prior supervisory or leadership experience is a plus. Core Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial systems. Additional Requirements Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Demonstrated commitment to service excellence. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Other Duties Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Finance.
