Role Summary On-Site Preferred | Hybrid Considered We are seeking a Director of Finance & Operational Systems to serve as a key member of the leadership team and the financial and operational information leader for MRO Built. This role goes beyond traditional accounting and financial reporting. The Director will drive operational visibility, job profitability, forecasting accuracy, cash management, ERP discipline, KPI reporting, and disciplined growth across the millwork, casework, and precision metals divisions. Partnering directly with executive leadership, project managers, engineering, and manufacturing teams, our Director will transform financial and operational data into timely, actionable information that supports better decisions, stronger margins, and growth. This will include ensuring accurate job costing, real-time margin insight, and strong cash management. The ideal candidate combines strong finance and accounting leadership with a passion for improving systems, reporting, and operational performance. They will be comfortable leveraging ERP platforms, dashboards, automation, and practical AI-enabled tools to improve visibility, accountability, and business results. This role will help shape how information flows throughout the organization and how performance is measured across the business. Key Responsibilities Ensure accurate monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reports with analysis Oversee accounting and financial data collection operations across the business Own job costing and WIP reporting across active projects Partner with project managers and operations leaders on margin tracking and cost-to-complete analysis Build backlog, forecasting, and KPI dashboards for leadership Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital discipline Improve ERP systems, reporting workflows, and financial processes Lead development of management information systems that improve visibility into labor, materials, WIP, backlog, capacity, and profitability Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI-assisted analysis, and reporting tools to reduce manual work and improve decision-making Establish data standards, reporting cadence, and process ownership across departments Lead and develop accounting and finance team members Job Costing & WIP Ownership Serve as the owner of job costing accuracy across custom millwork and manufacturing operations. Develop and maintain reliable WIP reporting and revenue recognition practices. Track estimated versus actual costs at the project level, identify margin fade early, and partner with project managers to improve outcomes before project completion. Operational Finance Act as a financial partner to operations, engineering, and project management teams. Provide insight into labor efficiency, material usage, production performance, and project-level profitability. Help leadership understand where margins are gained or lost across complex, multi-phase projects and operations. Data, Dashboards & Decision Support Own the development of practical management reporting that connects accounting data to operational reality. Work with leadership to define critical business measures and create repeatable reporting tools that make those measures visible and actionable. Improve source data discipline, reduce spreadsheet rework, develop dashboards and scorecards, and help leaders identify bottlenecks, margin erosion, capacity constraints, billing delays, purchasing issues, and production improvement opportunities earlier. Cash Flow Management Maintain rolling cash flow forecasts that reflect project billing cycles, retainage, and production schedules. Improve billing accuracy, collections, and payables timing to optimize working capital and support growth. Management Information Systems, AI & Process Automation Evaluate and strengthen ERP, accounting, and management information systems that support a multi-division manufacturing business. Build standardized reporting across the millwork and metals divisions that allows leadership to understand performance by project, division, customer, backlog, labor efficiency, material usage, WIP, cash flow, and profitability. Drive automation and reduce manual processes while improving accuracy and visibility. Champion practical AI-enabled workflows where appropriate, including variance analysis, dashboard preparation, forecasting support, reporting automation, documentation, and repetitive reporting tasks while maintaining strong controls, human review, and accountability for final decisions. Qualifications 8-15+ years of accounting, finance, or operational finance experience Experience in manufacturing, millwork, construction, fabrication, or other project-based industries Strong expertise in job costing, WIP accounting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition Proven ability to manage close processes and financial reporting in a fast-paced environment Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities Strong understanding of ERP systems, data structure, reporting logic, and management information systems Experience building dashboards, KPI scorecards, forecasting tools, and repeatable reporting processes Comfortable leveraging automation, AI-assisted tools, and technology to improve reporting and operational performance Practical mindset toward controls, data security, process documentation, and accountability Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across finance, operations, engineering, and project management
