This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, strengthens internal controls, and supports operational decision-making during a period of rapid growth, automation investment, and process standardization. The Controller will play a critical leadership role in transitioning the organization from transactional, decentralized accounting practices to a more structured, scalable, and data-driven finance function. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategy Lead all accounting functions, including general ledger, cost accounting, AP/AR, payroll coordination, and financial reporting Partner with the President and operational leaders to provide financial insights that drive business decisions Support capital investment analysis (e.g., automation/robotic warehouse project) and ROI modeling Develop and implement scalable financial processes aligned with company growth Accounting Operations Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across multiple locations Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP Standardized accounting practices across foam, plastics, and paper divisions Manage intercompany transactions and consolidations Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance Lead cost accounting functions including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation Partner with operations to analyze labor, material, and overhead costs Drive visibility into production efficiency, scrap, and margin performance Support pricing decisions with accurate cost data Internal Controls & Compliance Establish and maintain strong internal controls and audit-ready processes Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks Systems & Process Improvement Evaluate and optimize current financial systems (ERP, payroll, reporting tools) Lead automation and process improvement initiatives within finance Improve data integrity, reporting accuracy, and real-time visibility Partner with technology leadership (e.g., AI/digital initiatives) to align financial systems Team Leadership & Development Lead and develop the accounting team, including roles supporting AP, AR, payroll, and site-level accounting Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations Provide training and mentorship to elevate team capabilities Support hiring and organizational design as the finance function evolves Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility Strong background in manufacturing and cost accounting Demonstrated experience managing multi-site or complex operations Deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Experience improving processes in a growing or transforming organization Preferred CPA or CMA strongly preferred Experience in packaging, plastics, paper, or related manufacturing environments ERP system implementation or optimization experience Experience supporting capital-intensive operations or automation initiatives Key Competencies Strategic thinker with strong operational acumen Hands-on leader willing to build and improve processes High attention to detail with strong analytical capability Ability to influence and partner with cross-functional leaders Change agent comfortable operating in evolving environments Work Environment & Expectations On-site presence required at Bethlehem location Ability to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment Occasional travel between facilities as needed
