FLSA Status:
Exempt Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assists the Controller in overseeing proper accounting policy. Assists the Controller in balance sheet analysis of key accounts. Assists Controller in timely and accurate preparation of the monthly Financial Statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and CEI accounting principles. Learn the functions of the accounting clerks in Payroll, Purchasing, Sales, and Service and how their duties interact with the preparation of month-end statements and analysis. Work with the Cost Accountant and Controller to learn the standard cost system and how it relates to pricing and the overall preparation of month-end statements. Help the Controller troubleshoot any problems that develop in the accounting department, systems or procedures. Assists Controller with the responsibility for the correct and accurate accounting of all expenditures and documents. Learn all the Champion policies relating to all accepted internal accounting controls. Learn all the software used by Champion relating to the accounting and financial functions. Learn the functions of all the other key managers and how they relate to the Controller's responsibilities. Oversee the accounting clerks and cost accountant in the Controller's absence. Assume responsibilities for all or a portion of the fiscal close from the Controller when needed. In Controller's absence, assumes responsibilities. Education and/or Experience BSc/BA in accounting, finance, or a relevant field is required. One to two years of experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Requirements Proven experience as an assistant controller or other similar position Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.) Understanding of data analysis and forecasting Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (e.g. SAP) Well-organized with the ability to prioritize Very good communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and problem-solving ability Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus EEO Statement Champion Home Builders is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
