Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and strategic lending executive to help shape the future of our loan portfolio. This strategic leader will bring deep expertise in lending, portfolio growth, credit discipline, and relationship development—partnering across the organization to drive sustainable growth, strengthen member and business relationships, and support long-term organizational success. Responsibilities Directs all credit union lending activities, including consumer, home equity, and mortgage loans; evaluates lending practices and policies. Leads, coaches, and develops staff, ensuring employees have the training and resources needed to perform effectively. Oversee loan processing, underwriting, servicing, and compliance with industry regulations such as TILA and FHLB guidelines. Manages staffing and employee relations, including coaching, corrective action, recruiting, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary decisions. Attends regularly scheduled Board of Directors meetings. Develops lending procedures and internal policies; participates in ALCO, Executive Leadership Team. Communicates lending strategies and procedures to management and operational staff; implements loan services to support credit union objectives. Reviews approved loans daily to ensure sound lending practices and policy-compliant disbursements. Audits approved loans for compliance with Board lending guidelines, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements. Participates in short- and long-term strategic planning and communicates supporting strategies to management and staff. Develops lending products, improves loan processes, and drives departmental profitability and growth. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field required; MBA preferred. Minimum 10 years progressive lending experience, including leadership experience in a credit union or financial institution. Strong background in business, mortgage, and/or consumer lending, including underwriting, portfolio management, risk, compliance, and loan operations. Solid knowledge of lending regulations, policies, documentation, and credit union best practices. Strong communication, coaching, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
