Job Description
Interim Senior Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller Our client, a global technology and manufacturing company, is seeking an Interim Senior Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller to provide immediate support during a period of transition. This role is hybrid in the South Bay Area, with a fully remote option available for qualified candidates. This role has an initial duration of approximately three months, with potential for extension.
Responsibilities:
Lead and execute monthly and quarterly close activities across domestic and international entities Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaids, reclassifications, intercompany activity, fixed assets, and other close-related entries Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve aged or unsupported items Support general ledger accounting, consolidations, intercompany accounting, and multi-entity financial reporting Review subledger activity across accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, inventory, payroll, and other operational accounting areas Analyze transaction-level detail and supporting documentation to identify and resolve accounting issues Prepare audit schedules, trace balances to source documentation, and respond to auditor requests Partner with Finance, business teams, external providers, and auditors to resolve close issues and reporting dependencies Improve close checklists, supporting schedules, process documentation, and ownership procedures Provide workflow direction to other accounting professionals while remaining actively involved in detailed executionRequirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred 10+ years of progressive accounting experience within corporate accounting, controllership, or accounting operations Demonstrated ownership of close activities in a high-growth, multinational, or multi-entity environment Strong hands-on experience with journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, intercompany accounting, consolidations, and variance analysis Broad operational accounting and systems experience, with the ability to independently research issues, evaluate supporting evidence, and drive work to completionCompensation:
